What drives moving costs (and what you can actually control)
Moving quotes feel random until you know the formula. For long-distance moves it's essentially weight × distance + labor + season. Here's each factor ranked by impact, with an honest note on whether you can do anything about it.
1. Distance — the biggest lever, and you can't change it
Mileage is the single largest pricing factor for any move over ~100 miles.
